Giving without expectations.

Sometimes, we can be very sensitive. When we are sweet to someone and treat them especially well, we naturally hope they will respond with the same care. But sometimes, people simply think differently.

Everyone has a different priority list. You may place someone high on your list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they will place you in the same position on theirs. Maybe you have fewer people or things and responsibilities competing for your attention, while they have more. The order may be different, but that doesn’t always mean the love or care is gone.

If we don’t understand this clearly, those differences can easily cause hurt and misunderstandings.

I am learning not to expect too much in return. I want to give because giving makes me happy. Doing something sweet for someone can make them happy, and it also brings happiness to me in that moment. What matters is how they feel when receiving it and how I feel when giving it.

I don’t need to expect the same gesture or action in return, because I don’t really know where I am on someone else’s priority list or what else they may be carrying. Instead, I am learning to create happiness for myself and to enjoy doing sweet things for others whether I know them well or not.

My kindness, my love is part of who I am. I don’t want disappointment to take that away from me.❤️
